iTunes Album Art Bug

Quite a bug indeed — it won’t show any of my album art!

iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer

I’ve restarted iTunes several time, but to no avail. Perhaps a reboot is in order.

Anyone else had this happen to them? If so, how did you fix it?

Update: Looks like a reboot did the trick — problem resolved. Some other programs were acting kind of wonky, crashing when opened, but it seems as though the reboot fixed this, too. Strange while it lasted.

  1. I have this same problem. I did some exploring and found that most of the time, all that is needed is a video driver update. I’m having difficulties doing this myself, but I thought I’d give you the heads up. Here is a page that you help out:

  3. Hi, Laura. Those steps will only work for Windows users, unfortunately, which I am not.

Thankfully, though, after simply restarting my computer the problem went away. If you’ve not tried that, you may went to test it out. It’s simple, but can work wonders at times.

  4. Hah, thanks. I made the “update” larger — tiny text at the end of the post wasn’t such a good idea

  5. Get a pc, if you do not, you will have continued or even worse problems

  6. I’m on my bf’s iBook and have noticed he has the same message… He’s had it for “a while”… restarting does not fix the problem.

Google seems to show that this is a common-ish problem for PCs. This is the first reference to the problem on a(nother) Mac.

Glad you were able to fix things so easily!

  7. @alivcwil Is your boyfriend’s iBook running the most recent version of his OS (Tiger or Leopard) and iTunes available? If you’re not sure, try doing a software update which may very well alleviate the issue.

  8. hey! it’s only taken me 6 months to get back here :)

    he updates his software regularly.

He’s still having this problem - and there’s also a problem with his screensaver. And System Prefs won’t let him get into ‘desktop and screensaver’. Whether they’re related or not, I don’t know.

I’ve told him he just needs to buy a new MacBook :)
